Local growers say the polar vortex had a negative impact on this summer’s peach crop.
Stover’s Farm Market in Berrien Springs told WSBT that they don’t have any peaches available for their customers who like to pick the fruit themselves.
The severe cold resulted in almost a thousand trees that had to be cut down after they cracked in half.
Stover’s says they have already ordered trees to replace the ones that have fallen victim to the severe cold, and those that might die later.
