A Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at the Turkey Creek Fire Department in Syracuse.

The box is a safe place for women who want to give up their baby anonymously.

Once the baby is placed in the box, an alarm is triggered and the fire department is notified.

The first Safe Haven Baby Box was installed in 2016, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Two babies have been surrendered so far in Northern Indiana, ABC 57 reported.
