A Niles woman was killed in a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Niles Township.

It happened shortly after noon Sunday on N 5th Street near Pucker.

The police report says the victim was in the street attempting to pick up a piece of clothing that she lost while she was a passenger on a motorcycle. The driver of the car, an elderly Niles woman, said she saw her but didn’t have a chance to avoid hitting her.

The victim has been identified as 49 year-old Candace Rae Barna. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
