A new ranking of the best counties in Indiana for small business owners had good news for LaGrange and St. Joseph Counties.

A study released by the group Smart Asset this week looked at three different factors. They were:

• the percentage of people in each county with small business income
• the proportion of that income to overall income
• the taxes paid by small business owners.

According to the study, St. Joseph County was ranked 9th in the state, with Lagrange County coming in 2nd. Adams County was in the top spot.
