A Decatur man died in a crash in Cass County.

The collision happened around 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sep. 15, in the area of Yaw Street and California Road in Silver Creek Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, Eduardo Mendoza, 24, lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road. Mendoza was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, according to authorities.

Mendoza wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, police stated.
