Suspect in two-state robbery spree arrested

Since an armed robbery on Aug. 23, in Lakeside, Michigan, multiple area police agencies have been searching for a caucasian left-handed robbery suspect driving a dark blue Chrysler 300. The suspect went on to commit additional armed robberies at a gas station in LaPorte County on Aug. 26, then robbed the Country Cupboard in St. Joseph County, Indiana on the morning of Sep. 4 and a nearby Dollar General Store the following day. On Sep. 9, suspect robbed a bank in Three Oaks.

During this time area police agencies began to work together to connect these robberies, combine evidence & resource and were able to determine the same suspect had also robbed both a grocery store in LaPorte County and a gas station in Three Oaks in Berrien County back on June 18. On Wednesday, Sep. 18, the suspect attempted to rob a bank in Edwardsburg.

A few hours after the attempted robbery in Edwardsburg, a Pokagon Tribal Police Officer recognized the dark blue Chrysler on the U.S. 31 bypass approaching Mayflower Road.

Multiple units of the Tribal Police began a stop of the vehicle assisted by St. Joseph County officers. The dark blue Chrysler was driven by David Wilson Floyd, 42. Floyd was arrested for Robbery by St. Joseph County Police and booked into the county jail with no bond. Potential charges are pending from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor and the U.S. Attorney.
