Elkhart building demolition will affect traffic

Parts of Main and Lexington Streets in Elkhart are closed for a demolition project.

The vacant building at 131 South Main is structurally unsound and officials say there’s no way to safely bring it down with a wrecking ball. To allow engineers the best chance to bring it down safely, the city is closing Lexington from Main to the north-south alley between Main and Second.

The project is expected to end on November 20th.
