Motorcycle crashes under investigation in South Bend, Elkhart County

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating a collision involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, near Miami Street and Dubail Avenue in South Bend.

The motorcyclist was found unconscious and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.


A Goshen woman riding on a motorcycle was killed after a collision with a semi.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, on State Road 119 and County Road 40 near Goshen.

The driver of the semi was traveling turning southwest when the motorcyclist crashed into the trailer being pulled by the semi, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Erin Schlabach, 34, died at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle was airlifted to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
