New River District project being considered in Elkhart

The City of Elkhart is considering a development proposal for the River District area.

It’s a multi-million dollar proposal that would create more housing and more retail and office space downtown.

The proposal is centered on a six-acre tract of land off Jackson Boulevard that the city currently owns.

The four developers working on the proposal are not asking for any incentives for the project, according to WSBT.

The two buildings being proposed would be located just east of the new aquatic center and close to Lundquist Bicentennial Park.
