Michigan City mayor claims his son was unfairly targeted in drug sting

Michigan City’s mayor is accusing a political rival of orchestrating the arrest of his son.

Mayor Ron Meer is accusing LaPorte County Prosecutor John Lake of “political retaliation” in the arrest last week of his son. Lake says those allegations are “completely false.”

The county’s Drug Task Force arrested 33 year-old Adam Bray, who faces cocaine, resisting, and weapons charges. Bray has had trouble with the law in the past.

Mayor Meer says his son was targeted specifically as a political attack, and Lake counters that he wasn’t even aware the suspect was the mayor’s son until after it happened.

The Indiana State Police are investigating the matter.
