UPDATE: Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting identified

The suspect killed in Friday morning’s officer-involved shooting has been identified.

ABC 57 reports David Sanders, 46 of Three Rivers, was pronounced dead at the scene following a police chase that stretched from Bristol to White Pigeon.

Sanders’ autopsy is scheduled for later today.

The incident happened just before 12:45 a.m. when officers with the Bristol Police Department engaged in a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect vehicle crashed into the Bristol police car.

Shots were fired shortly thereafter, fatally striking Sanders.

The Bristol officer who fired the shots sustained minor injures and has been placed on administrative leave.
