South Bend Mayor and 2020 presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg responded to President Trump’s comment Tuesday morning, in which he compared the current impeachment effort against him to a lynching.

Buttigieg took to Twitter and said “the history of lynching in America is one of murderous torture and violent death.” He described lynching as an act “motivated by white supremacy, tolerated or even celebrated by ordinary people.”

Buttigieg further said that equating that with a constitutional process, underway to hold accountable what he called “a lawless president,” is in his words “disgusting.”
