Possible Minor League Baseball changes shouldn’t impact South Bend Cubs

(Tommie Lee/95.3 MNC)

Minor League Baseball is looking at making some big changes, but the South Bend Cubs say they are likely safe from anything drastic.

Team officials say the upgrades made in recent years to Four Winds Field and their close proximity to other teams in the Midwest League should protect them from some expected changes in the organization of the league.

The South Bend Tribune reports that Major League Baseball is seeking big changes in their agreement with the Minors, including eliminating 40 of the 160 teams.

The current agreement ends in September of next year, and the two sides are said to still be far apart in their negotiations.
