You’ve probably heard of boats sinking, but not planes.
The Elkhart Municipal Airport will have to undertake some repairs because a parking ramp that was just installed last year has failed.
Two days of temperatures in the 70s last week were enough to soften the concrete and cause two planes to sink into the asphalt.
The city spent 50 thousand dollars on the parking ramp last year. The Elkhart Truth reports that the asphalt mix recommended by the FAA will be installed next year at a cost of more than $500 million.

Wonder who’s going to pay for it? 500 million is alot of tax money especially since they just spent 50 million last year
#50 thousand
If the plane sank into asphalt why are they replacing concrete? Are they replacing the asphalt with concrete? Asphalt =/= concrete.
Also, any asphalt that is too soft to use after a 70 degF day was probably faulty to begin with. Do cars start sinking into the road during the summer? I think not.
