The fire in LaGrange County happened around 7pm on Friday night. Firefighters were able to get 8 year old Melody Gangwer out of her home, and she was ultimately transported to Riley Medical Center in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, she did not make it through the night.

They do know the fire started in a bedroom upstairs in the home, on the same floor where Melody was, but what caused it is unknown.

Several departments are investigating.
