The attorney for Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer is now seeking a special prosecutor. Mayor Meer is facing multiple counts of false informing, intimidation, and official misconduct–charges that his lawyer calls “poorly drafted” and in his belief, “subject to a motion to dismiss as soon as a judge assumes jurisdiction”.
In the past several weeks Meer has called out city officials publicly for the arrest of his step son, allegedly asked that the city remove itself from a joint task force with LaPorte County, and subsequently accept the resignation of the Chief of Police.
Meer’s attorney called it the “worst breach of ethics and professionalism” in his 43 year career.
