South Bend Common Council Will have a Female Majority

(Spencer Marsh/95.3 MNC)

For the first time ever South Bend will start their new year with a female majority on the common council.

Lori Hamman, Rachel Tomas Morgans, Sheila Niezgodski, Sharon McBride, and Karen White all won their respective seats meaning that five of the nine seats will be filled with women.

The council members say they look forward to using their diversity to help the council, and hope that their message to young girls is clear “you can do this too”.

Our partners in news at ABC 57 have sat down with all of the council women, you can read the full story here.
