Indiana Michigan Power crews to inspect poles throughout northern Indiana

To help maintain reliable and safe energy service, Indiana Michigan Power is inspecting poles in northern Indiana.

I&M is partnering with a licensed pole inspection company, Quality Pole Inspection and
Maintenance, to visually examine poles. In some cases, the inspection process will
involve minor digging at the base of the poles and treatment of the wood. All materials used are environmentally safe as most are water based. Once the work is completed, more than 20,000 poles will have been inspected.

QPIM vehicles can be identified by their company name, logo and a magnetic I&M contractors sign. A letter on I&M stationary will accompany each crew. QPIM employees work schedule, depending on weather conditions, will be Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. and inspections will continue for several weeks.

Pole inspections, part of I&M’s preventative maintenance program, are among the many actions the company takes to maintain the reliability and safety of the system. Customers who have questions regarding this work can contact I&M at 800-311-4634.
