It’s the end of an era in Indiana politics.

Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma announced Tuesday that he is leaving the Indiana Statehouse. Bosma said he will not seek re-election, opting instead to take a job in Washington.

Bosma has served in the Indiana Legislature since 1986. He was first elected Speaker in 2004, served as Republican leader in 2006 and 2008, and regained the Speaker’s gavel in 2010.
