Michigan City’s mayor has been taken into custody, and is looking for a special prosecutor.

Mayor Ronald Meer, who failed in his reelection bid earlier this month, argues that the LaPorte County Prosecutor has “a special interest” in defending itself against accusations of conspiracy and possible political motives for pursuing charges against him.

A hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday on the request for a special prosecutor.
