The Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s Fire Marshall will be in South Bend Monday afternoon to award two of the city’s Assistant Chiefs the Meritorious Service Medal.
Assistant Chief of Training John Corthier and Fire Marshall Federico Rodriguez will be recognized for their dedication, duty, and years of service to the community of South Bend and the State of Indiana.
The Chiefs have a combined 89 years of service to the department, and both plan on retiring in January. The ceremony is planned for 3 p.m. at the Central Fire Station on South Michigan Street.
