The family of Eric Logan will be allowed to file a brief in the ongoing South Bend police tapes case.
That was the ruling of a judge on Monday after the family asked to intervene in the pending lawsuit to make those tapes public.
WSBT reports the family claims those tapes can help their lawsuit by showing a pattern of racially-motivated discrimination in the police department. The judge turned down the family’s request to intervene but said they can be heard on the pending motion for summary judgement on the federal wiretap issues.
The next hearing is set for January.
