Record amount of Indiana sports bets in December wraps up a strong 2019

Odds were that Indiana sportsbooks would end 2019 with a bang — and they certainly paid off.

Play Indiana dot com says at the end of the year, the sportsbooks operating in the state wrapped up with more than $430 million in bets, providing healthy momentum for the new year. The retail and online sportsbooks surpassed $160 million in bets during December, their highest monthly total since the first wager was placed in September.

Play Indiana says The Hoosier State has already become one of the largest sports betting markets in the US, but there are questions about how sustainable those numbers can be with neighboring states considering legalizing sports betting.
