Closure, of sorts, may finally be coming in a case involving a former South Bend abortion doctor.

A service on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in South Bend will memorialize thousands of aborted fetal remains found at the Illinois home of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer after his death.

The interment services will take place at 1 p.m. at Southlawn Cemetery.

The services come nearly five months after the discovery and beginning of the investigation, which has offered little in the way of answers.

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill is expected to update the status of the investigation into Klopfer, who performed abortions in South Bend and Fort Wayne.

Klopfer’s license was suspended in 2017. He died in September of last year.
