Synthetic pot found at Westville Correctional

Contraband recovered at Westville Correctional Facility.

Officials at the Westville Correctional Facility discovered a large amount of synthetic marijuana on Valentine’s Day.

The discovery was made in a common area at the facility. The substance was tested by Indiana Department of Correction investigators and found to be mostly K2, which is synthetic marijuana, with a small percentage of tobacco.

The origin of the contraband is still under investigation. Lead Captain Joseph Farley said any time mind-altering drugs are introduced into a confinement facility, “the consequences can be unpredictable and sometimes even deadly.”
