Holcomb wants more information on erosion issues

Governor Eric Holcomb is pledging more support for the fight against erosion on the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Holcomb has signed an executive directing state agencies to collect damage information that could lead to a disaster declaration.

He has surveyed the shoreline by helicopter and seen the deteriorating beachfront along Indiana’s shore, including Long Beach, Ogden Dunes, and Beverly Shores.

State Senator Karen Tallian of Ogden Dunes released a statement Thursday saying “it’s about time” Holcomb took the problem seriously, and hoping an emergency declaration would be issued as quickly as possible.
