By Executive Order, Michigan’s governor has created a new state office that will focus on making Michigan a hub for the future of automotive innovation.

Governor Whitmer signed the order Tuesday that creates the Michigan Office of Future Mobility. It was signed on the hood of an autonomous Ford vehicle at a summit with auto industry leaders in Detroit.

Whitmer also signed a second executive order establishing a Michigan Council on Future Mobility and Electrification.

The Office of Future Mobility and its Chief Mobility Officer would operate within the state’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
