A Benton Harbor man has been charged with open murder in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old woman.

Uniqua Vera-Anne Jones lost her life back in November 2019.

She was shot in the 200 block of Concord in the Blossom Acres neighborhood.

A relative told investigators Jones’ boyfriend,

Marion Lamont Perry, Jr., had been at the scene but had left before police got there.

Investigators questioned several people who knew Perry and Jones and were able to recover the firearm used in the shooting.

Perry has been in the custody of the Michigan Department of Corrections since December.

In addition to the open murder charge, he also faces weapons charges. During his arraignment on Thursday, March 5, his bond was set at $2 million.
