President declares a national emergency in response to coronavirus

President Trump declared a national emergency Friday afternoon to open better access to $50 billion to combat the virus.

States are being directed to open emergency centers, and all hospitals in the U.S. are being directed to activate their emergency response plans.

The Department of Health and Human Services will be able to lift restrictions on certain requirements and increase response.

He is also pushing for wider access to testing.
