Charges for Goshen man who hid his father’s body

Charges have been filed against a goshen man that kept his fathers dead body hidden in a wheelbarrow for two years. The discovery was made in late 2019, but the initial incident dates back to 2017.

Irvin Nicholas Jr. told police at the time of his arrest that his father died in May of that year shortly after an argument about moving him into a nursing home, and out of fear that the police would take his grandkids he never reported the death. One of the more bizarre aspects of the story is that the wheelbarrow in which he stored the body actually moved homes with Nicholas Jr. at one point.

He apparently also received benefits in the neighborhood of $46,000 over the two years since his dad’s death. His charges include three counts of welfare fraud and one count of failure to report a dead body.
