Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order Friday that extends Michigan’s stay-at-home order to May 15th.
The order also allows some businesses to reopen.
The governor says Michiganders have to continue to stay home as much as possible to help stop the spread of the virus, but gave certain businesses that had been closed, like plant nurseries and bicycle repair shops, permission to reopen under social distancing guidelines.
The order also permits certain outdoor activities like golf and boating to resume, and businesses with items deemed nonessential can reopen for curbside pickup or delivery. Large retailers can reopen certain parts of their stores like garden centers and paint sections.
Michiganders are required, rather than encouraged, to wear masks or other face coverings while shopping in close spaces so long as it wouldn’t put them at any risk to do so.
