The owner of the Fireside Tap and Grill in Edwardsburg says they are not permanently closed.

Owner Jeremy Yoder has released a statement saying they are working to create a new, limited menu to take effect on its “re-opening,” this coming Monday, May 18.

The confusion came about after Yoder’s decision to temporarily close the restaurant and furlough the restaurant’s wait staff.

Yoder says the Fireside is staying open and working to fix supply chain problems.

Below is the full statement released by the Fireside Tap and Grill:

MICHIGAN, May 18, 2020 — Jeremy Yoder, owner of Fireside Tap & Grill, in Edwardsburg,
MI, says not to worry – Fireside isn’t going anywhere. After a local publication, on May 14th
mistakenly announced the restaurant’s permanent closure, Yoder is clearing the air. The
restaurant is working to create a new, limited menu to take effect on its “re-opening,” this
coming Monday, May 18.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Fireside, along with thousands of restaurants across the country, to limit their service to take-out and delivery. Indiana’s 50% dine-in restriction, Michigan’s Stay At Home Order extension, combined with a nationwide meat supply shortage is forcing Yoder to adapt business operations and supply chains.

The confusion came about on Thursday, after Yoders decision to temporarily close the restaurant and furlough the restaurant’s wait staff. Media outlets quickly assumed the closure to be permanent – which was not the case – and quickly redacted. Yoder explains,

“Fireside is staying open and working to fix our supply chain problems. We just need a few days to get our hands around this and rework the menu.”

Rest at ease – Fireside is staying put, but it might be a little while before Yoder can put the
Sunday pork special back on the menu. And, as states across the country begin to reopen for dine-in service, restaurant owners, like Yoder, are facing new challenges that might prove ongoing.

“There’s no question that Fireside is staying open, but we have to put things on the menu
that we can get. The meat we need is, either not available, or too expensive because of
limited supply. And, when they lift the stay at home order these problems will still be here.
But, on Monday, we’re firing up the grill – like normal.”

Fireside Tap & Grill, located at 69245 Maple St. in Edwardsburg, is a sports bar of ering burgers, pizza, wings, cold beer – and more.
