Governor Gretchen Whitmer says Michigan is moving into Phase 4 of the state’s Safe Start Plan on Tuesday.

As of May 26, retail businesses and auto dealerships may reopen by appointment. Nonessential medical, dental and veterinary procedures can resume in the state on Friday May 29.

Small gatherings of 10 people or fewer can resume immediately.

The state’s COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to drop, prompting the executive order on Thursday that re-engages more sectors of Michigan’s economy.

Whitmer is uncertain when bars and restaurants can resume regular operations, saying the virus is still very present in the state.
