Officials are searching Bass Lake for a swimmer who went missing Tuesday afternoon in Starke County.

Indiana DNR officials say Anthony Cohn, 37, was standing on a sandbar near a boat when the wind pulled it away. When he swam after it into deeper water he went under and did not resurface.

Conservation officers and local first responders began searching at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday and were still searching as of Wednesday morning.

They’re asking the public to avoid the area while they look for the missing swimmer.
