A Michigan City man has been arrested after attempting three sexual assaults in one night.
Demarcus Cortez Williams, 30, was arrested on five criminal charges, including attempted rape and kidnapping, according to WSBT.
Michigan City Police were first called to the 100 block of West Ripley Street around 12:45 Thursday morning, where a female victim claimed a man had followed her home and attempted to rape her.
Neighbors told police they could hear the victim calling for help, and were able to stop the rape by yelling at the suspect, who ran away.
One hour later, police received a call from the 1000 block of Tennessee Street, where a female victim reported that a man had broken into her house. She then says he tried to rape her and another woman. They were able to fight him off and force him out of the house.
Police report the description of the suspect matched the description of the suspect in the first incident.
Then, just before 2:15 that morning, police were called to the 1300 block of Kentucky Street on reports of a man breaking into a home and trying to sexually assault two juveniles.
The caller reported the suspect had entered the home through a window, but was scared off by the juveniles’ grandparents waking up.
The suspect’s description matched the description given in the two previous incidents.
Police were able to identify the suspect as Williams, and searched for him throughout the night. He was located at noon Thursday, and arrested on charges of Attempted Rape, Sexual Battery, Kidnapping Criminal Confinement and Resisting Law Enforcement.
Williams is being held on a $25,000 cash bond and will have his initial court appearance in La Porte County Superior Court on Tuesday, July 14.
