Dangerous swimming conditions Friday and Saturday in Lake Michigan

(NOAA)

Weather officials remind potential beach goers that a major shift in the wind on Friday has elevated swimming in Lake Michigan to “dangerous” status.

Beaches from Indiana up to Muskegon and beyond will experience dangerous waves and currents due to the conditions, which will last well into Saturday.

The north side of piers are especially hazardous, and the record-high water levels and winds will push water over the tops of piers.
