A 23-month-old child died in an apparent drowning.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies were called around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, to the 25000 block of Snyder Street where they found the toddler.

The child was transported to Elkhart General Hospital and later pronounced dead, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating.
