UPDATE: Woman arrested in July fatal crash in Niles

A woman has been arrested after causing a fatal crash while intoxicated last month.

The crash happened on July 22 on St. Joseph Valley Parkway in Niles, near mile marker 9.

Nyesha Alvern Campbell, 28 of Benton Charter Township, had been traveling in the wrong lane of traffic when she caused a head-on crash that killed a Benton Harbor man.

On August 6, the Berrien County Trial Court issued an arrest warrant for Campbell, and she was arrested on Monday.

She’s facing the following charges:

  • OWI Causing Death
  • CCW in a Motor Vehicle
  • Felony Firearms

She was given a $2,500 bond on each of the charges and is required to be placed on Soberlink. Her next hearing date is set for August 19.
