Would you go to a casino in Indiana if it was completely smoke-free?

A new poll from the American Lung Association in Indiana shows 7 out of 10 Hoosiers say they support public places — bars, clubs and casinos — to be smoke-free. When it comes to prohibiting smoking and vaping specifically in Indiana casinos, 2 out of 3 Hoosiers say they’re in favor.

“Really, I think the public is onboard with smoke-free in general,” Nick Torres from the American Lung Association in Indiana told Inside Indiana Business. “Trying to improve the health of Hoosiers is our goal.”

He added that this could be a good thing for casinos, and other businesses, moving forward.

“You know, taking the opportunity to think of the ways that Indiana values being business-friendly, and looking ahead at new industries and growing the gaming market here.”

Two casinos in Indiana — French Lick Resort & Casino and Four Winds Casino in South Bend — switched to tobacco-free when they re-opened during the coronavirus pandemic.

Omg let people smoke. Your going to a casino not a restaurant. 7 out of 10 of how many people polled?

I’m good with it. People can still smoke in their own space, but I don’t have to bury my clothes in the back yard when I get home after a night out.

Smokers reeeeeeek.
