North Elementary School in Berrien County is closed until at least Monday after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

Watervliet Public Schools Superintendent Ric Seager sent a letter to parents Wednesday informing them of the positive test.

ABC 57 News reports the letter contained three reasons the school will temporarily shut down: to give the Berrien County Health Department time to do contact tracing, allow for a deep cleaning of the school and to hire a large amount of substitute teachers.

Students are now attending class via E-learning, and if all goes according to plan, the school will reopen Monday.
