Elkhart PD investigating a report of a possible child abduction

The Elkhart Police Department released the following update regarding the report of a possible child abduction:

Currently, there is no new information regarding the case. Officers conducted a large
door to door grid search on foot looking for anyone with further information or needing to file a missing person report.

A larger search was completed via vehicle. Detectives and Officers interviewed all witnesses and residents in the area. K-9 units and drones were used in the search area. A Child is Missing was activated. Currently, no one has contacted the Elkhart Police Department to report their child as missing.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident, needs to contact the Elkhart Police
Department at 574-295-7070 immediately. Further information regarding this incident will be release as it is obtained. We have not received any calls of a missing child at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart Police are investigating a possible child abduction near Moyer Avenue and Ren Street.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. a young girl reported that a young white male between the ages of 2 and 6 was abducted by a suspect in a white van with scratches and tinted windows on the back and sides.

The missing boy was said to be wearing a white hoodie with red and blue on it. More information will be released when it becomes available, but the police said they had not received any reports about a missing child as of 6:30 Monday evening.

Officers conducted a large door to door search, including vehicles, K-9 units and drones and were unable to find any sign of a missing child. They also were unable to find anyone who was missing a child.
