There’s about to be a new name in town for groceries: South Bend is getting a Trader Joe’s.

Monday afternoon the University of Notre Dame and the Kite Realty Group announced that a Trader Joe’s location was coming to the Eddy Street Commons, just a half-mile south of the campus.

Trader Joe’s will anchor the south end of Eddy Street Commons.

The company operates grocery stores in 42 states and Washington D.C. and offers gourmet, organic and vegetarian foods.

Construction of the new grocery store is already underway with an opening date to be announced in the future.
