Michigan woman arrested after near head-on crash with Indiana State Trooper

A Michigan woman was arrested on suspicion of OWI after investigators say she nearly struck an Indiana State Police cruiser head-on.

The close call happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, on State Road 127 in Angola.

The incident occurred as the trooper was transporting an arrestee to the Steuben County jail.

The trooper was driving northbound on SR 127 coming into the round about circle intersection in downtown Angola.  A Chevrolet HHR passenger car came around the circle southbound in the wrong direction, causing the trooper to take evasive action to avoid collision.   Two other troopers were close by at the time, and were able to get the driver stopped on Washington Street near US 20.

During the course of the traffic stop both officer’s quickly recognized that the female driver, Hannah L. Gore, 40, of Hillsdale, Michigan, was showing obvious signs of intoxication.  She was taken to the Steuben County jail where jer level of alcohol intoxication was determined to be well over twice the legal (.08) limit.

Gore was placed under arrest without incident and booked into custody at the Steuben County jail, pending an initial hearing on the matter.

  • Operating While Intoxicated, Endangering A Person (Misd)
  • Operating While Intoxicated (Misd)
  • Operating While Intoxicated with Alcohol Concentration > (.15) (Misd)
  • Operating Wrong Way (Infraction)
  • No Valid License (Infraction)
