Father, 21, charged with 3-year-old daughter’s death

The father of a 3-year-old girl who died earlier this month after he dropped her off at the hospital with life-threatening injuries is charge with her murder.

Trevion Dawon Shaver, 21, is charged with murder and aggravated battery. It was back on Oct. 13 when prosecutors say he dropped the girl off at the hospital and then left, saying little to nothing.

The girl’s mother told investigators Shaver told her to check on the girl at the hospital without a clear indication as to what happened.

At various times Shaver told the mom and toher he had sprayed Bactine on the girl’s skin and that she had an allergic reaction. He also say she went limp while he was trying to give her a bath and she hit her head on the bathtub. He also said she fell out of a a car. Kardie Weathersby died due to blunt force trauma, according to court documents.

Her death was ruled a homicide. Shaver is currently in jail in Kentwood Michigan on un-related charges.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office sent the following information to 95.3 MNC:

Today the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Trevion Dawon Shaver, 21, in connection with the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit investigation into the October 2020 death of 3 year old Kardie Weathersby.

He is charged with:

  • Count I: Murder a Felony
  • Count II: Aggravated Battery a Level 1 Felony

Probable cause was found and an arrest warrant ordered issued. He was ordered held
without bond. Mr. Shaver is currently in custody in Kentwood, Michigan, on unrelated
matters. We will notify the media when he returns to St. Joseph County on these charges.

The sentencing range for Murder is 45 to 65 years. The sentencing range for a Level 1
Felony is 20 to 40 years.

Please be advised that the charges filed against this defendant are merely accusations and
that he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Eye for an eye just like the Bible says. Give him exactly what he gave this precious little angel. Our great country should incorporate this law “eye for an eye” guarantee crap would cease but no we WASTE our tax dollars defending creeps who are guilty as crap. Sure would like to see real justice in our great land.
