Notre Dame students donate plasma for COVID patients

(Tom Franklin/95.3 MNC)

More than a dozen Notre Dame students donated plasma last week to help COVID-19 patients.

It was part of a convalescent plasma donation drive organized by Fighting Irish students and the South Bend Medical Foundation.

WNDU says 17 students participated in the drive, which resulted in enough plasma to benefit 56 COVID patients.

Convalescent plasma can only be donated by someone who has recovered from COVID, which means they have developed antibodies in their blood. Hospitals have found it to be a promising therapy for patients.
