Texas man, 24, arrested after armed robbery at gas station in St. Joseph Township

A Texas man was arrested after an armed robbery at the Citgo Gas Station in the 3100 block of Niles Road in St. Joseph Township.

The heist happened just after 12 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

Security video from the gas station showed the suspect, armed with a gun, enter the gas station and hand the cashier a note instructing him to give him the money from the cash register.

The suspect left the store with cash.

Minutes later, a vehicle matching the description of the Dodge Charger involved in this robbery was spotted by the Coloma Township police traveling eastbound on I-94.

A pursuit ensued of the vehicle involving several police agencies. The vehicle pursuit ended in Mattawan where the suspect then fled on foot but was taken into custody by officers a short time later.

The handgun believed to have been used along with the money that was stolen was recovered.

The 24-year-old man was taken to the Berrien County Jail on preliminary charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

There were no injuries reported.
