A new council to address learning loss at Michigan schools will include a pair of representatives from Berrien County.

Berrien County Health Officer Nicki Britten will advise from a local, public health perspective and State Rep. Brad Paquette, a former educator, will also take part.

ABC 57 reports they’re joining Governor Whitmer’s new Student Recovery Council, which is aimed at helping students who have suffered learning loss due to the pandemic get back up to speed.

The council consists of 29 appointees representing regions across Michigan who will develop systems to address problems that have resulted from lack of time in the classroom.
