South Bend Public Safety approves SBPD Use of Force policy

South Bend’s Board of Public Safety has approved the new Use of Force Policy for the city’s police department.

The vote came Wednesday morning and was passed by a 4-1 margin.

ABC 57 reports that the board looks to revisit the policy in two months because they said it lacked a clear definition of imminent danger, proportional response, and what constitutes the use of deadly force.

The Mayor says his team will work within that deadline. You can find full details about the policy by clicking here.

I dont thing mayors or city officials anywhere should be deciding policies for law enforcement. Thats what they have chiefs and command staff for. I doubt many city officials have worked the streets or understand what officers deal with. If changes need to be made, those who train officers should be ensuring proper procedures for arrest or detaining. City officials should at least be working with command staff on issues that only affect officers on the streets!

I agree. It’s easy to watch, hear, or read about what happened then make a call. It’s different when you are actually there.

Police shouldn’t have free will to decide who they want to attack or murder. South Bend and Mishawaka police are very dangerous and do not follow the law as it is

South Bend is already a crime ridden craphole city. Perhaps the city officials should worry more about empowering the police to protect the law abiding citizens than handcuffing the police to protect the criminals in the name of woke-ism…
