Elkhart tables police equipment and records deal over uncertainties

The City of Elkhart has tabled a deal for a records management system and equipment for the police department.

A 10-year deal worth $7.3 million is on hold, according to The Elkhart Truth, that would have involved stun guns, body cameras, dashboard cameras and more provided by the Axon company.

There’s a question involving state funding, and Councilwoman Mary Olsen has spoken with the police chief in Lafayette, who has not given the company a glowing review.
