A 76-year-old man was rescued after falling through the ice while fishing on O’Brien Lake near Eau Claire in Berrien County.
A sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, to find the man, who was holding on to a rope with another man who was trying to help him.
The deputy helped keep the man above the water until back up arrived with the proper rescue equipment.
The man was brought to shore with only a minor injury and exposure from the cold water.

I am so glad he is ok. I live around the corner from the lake and heard the sirens and the first responders flew past my house. My husband, two boys, and I just went fishing out there about 2 weeks ago but the ice was a lot thicker then, all the sun and rain we have had I am surprised they even went out on the ice. Glad they are all safe.
